Wikipedia got a record number of donations in its history. From mid-November 2010, the users have donated $ 16 million to online encyclopedia, said in the message of the founder of the resource Jimmy Wales, published online on Wikimedia Foundation.

Total for this period, more than 500 000 donations were received by the fund Wikimedia Foundation. The average size of a single donation was $ 22. Wales announced that the next fund raising will take place on November 15, 2010.
